Grades 2-4 While 100 Fun Facts may sound like a lot to young readers, many kids intrigued by horses will enjoy the information and photos presented here. Half the promised factoids appear in small boxes on two double-page spreads. The other facts emerge from the book's main text and the captions for adjacent photos. And for readers who want to make sure they didn't miss anything, all 100 facts appear again in small print on two appended pages. Jazynka introduces a smattering of equine history along with bits of information about the animals' physical attributes, diet, senses, and interactions with people, including the care and training of horses. From the publisher's Fact Reader series, the book features a relatively large-print text, colorful layouts, and excellent photos of horses. Though students researching the topic should look for more authoritative resources elsewhere, browsers will find the volume's fast facts, lively layouts, and quality photos engaging. And with a cover photo of four white horses galloping toward the viewer, this book will easily attract its audience.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2018, American Library Association.)
