Grades 4-6 The future is now! The Searchlight Books: Cutting-Edge STEM series (6 titles) makes that clear with books that focus on the latest technology. Cutting-Edge 3D Printing shows how a once-sf technology has come into homes and libraries. The book does an excellent job of explaining how the printers work and the ways the hardware and software adapt to print different objects, including food and even body parts. The color photographs in this series are particularly well chosen, adding and expanding the texts and giving kids a sense of the possibilities that these technologies offer. All of the books give a nod to the history of each technology, which allows readers to see how these fields are expanding.
