Gr 2-4-This exciting series outlines in detail the early lives, career paths, and athletic legacies of legendary sports figures such as Tom Brady and George Springer, with important vocabulary in bold. Readers interested in sports but not yet ready for more challenging content will find the language accessible. The subjects are ethnically and racially diverse; however, the series focuses exclusively on male athletes, which may limit its broader appeal. Glossy full-page photographs and diagrams of relevant concepts make this an ideal introductory sports biography series for the early grades. VERDICT An up-to-date addition to large nonfiction collections.
