‘SCOTSMAN’ REOPENS SVR IN STYLE • The Severn Valley Railway reopened its full 16-mile line on 25 July in fine style with national collection ‘A3’ Flying Scotsman heading the line’s rake of LNER teak coaches on the first public departure from Kidderminster at 9:00am.

RECORD CROWD AT ONSLOW PARK • There is no doubt that the Shrewsbury Steam Rally is one of the premier events of the year, says David Reed. There are many sections to this rally, but steam rules, with around 100 engines in steam over the weekend attracting large crowds on both days. As well as steam, the rally hosts all the regular attractions associated with shows like this, making it an event not to be missed and the weather was very good here for a change.
